Alexander Kalyanov, Ph.D.

Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, Klinik für Neonatologie

Dr Alexander Kalyanov studied biochemical physics at Saratov State University. He obtained his PhD in 2011 in the Optics and Biophysics Dept. (OBP) of the same institution. During his PhD, Alexander focused on optical coherence methods in life sciences with a particular focus on full-field optical coherence microscopy. After defense, he continued his research activity in OBP. In 2014, Alexander joined the Biomedical Optics Research Laboratory (BORL) at the University Hospital Zurich as a postdoc, applying his knowledge of optics and biophotonics to Near-Infrared Optical Tomography (NIROT). Now, an associated researcher, Dr. Kalyanov leads a group of several PhD and MS students developing a new time-resolved NIROT system, “Pioneer”, for the imaging of the brains of preterm neonates.
