Referring physicians of the Institute of Clinical Chemistry

The Institute of Clinical Chemistry (IKC) provides rapid, high quality and cost-effective laboratory diagnostics for patient care and clinical research. Laboratory analyses are primarily performed for outpatients and inpatients at the University Hospital Zurich, but additional services are also provided for external clients.

Transport of samples

The administrative office of the University Center for Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (UZL) is located in the Institute of Clinical Chemistry. The UZL coordinates the laboratory medicine and pathology program at the University Hospital Zurich and the University of Zurich through publication of a comprehensive UZL analysis information system and organizes the transport of samples for external submitters.

Report of Findings

For external customers, the laboratory findings are usually sent by email or if not possible by surface mail. In principle, it is also possible to transfer the reports directly into an external hospital information system via the HL7 interface. Registration and further information on this service can be obtained from the office of UZL.

Information

The IKC laboratory managers (FAMH-certified specialists in clinical chemistry or specialists in laboratory medicine) will assist you with personal reports, questions concerning medical indications, the preparation of laboratory tests and the interpretation of analysis results.
